Artist and designer John Scafiddi Jr. is a man with an innate ability to transform the dark into light. As founder of streetwear label At War he’s created clothing that embodies the cultural spirit of his hometown NYC in all its diversity, along with the attitude and personality of LA.

 

With his eponymous Scafiddi Studios and as a shrewd tastemaker, John brings his flair for style to multidimensional projects. Working as a creative consultant for interiors, branding, marketing and photography, John is able to express his vision authentically and meaningfully.

 

Aged 16, John got his first tattoo, fell in love for the first time and broke his knee so badly it ended a future career as a professional athlete. 

 

These events changed everything.

 

With his sporting dreams dashed and having dropped out of college a little while after, he began making clothes. What started as an outlet for his creativity turned into a fully-fledged label.

 

In 2014, John’s debut clothing label At War sprang out of the depths of his pain. Experiencing personal hardships ignited a desire within him to not just launch a brand, but create a mindset, a community based on unity, inspiration and hope to overcome that war. 

 

And so, At War was born. Marrying John’s love of tattoo iconography with the vibrancy of East coast and West coast style, At War is a battle-cry for those who will never give up their fights.

 

John’s mantra is, “we are all at war with something,” and that these personal battles can be channelled into positive action. For John, pain is something that doesn’t go away, but can be tapped and put to good use.

 

From how you take your coffee to how you write your grocery list, John believes everything we do is art. With Scafiddi Studios, it’s John’s mission to bridge that gap between human and artist. To transform everyday ideas into something extraordinary and profound. His ability to unravel his clients’ DNA and create magical things is an expression of John’s visionary approach.
